Tony Dello
Tony Dello, former minor league hitting instructor with the Arizona Diamondbacks, completed his 8th season with the Diamondbacks organization in 2006 as the Hitting Coach for the Tennessee Smokies, Double A affiliate. He has conducted camps and clinics throughout the United States including as far as Alaska. He has also served as a writer for Collegiate Baseball and Baseball Parent Magazines. Tony served as Director of Youth Instruction for Arizona State University under head coach Pat Murphy.
Before beginning his professional coaching career, Tony completed 8 successful years at the collegiate level leading the league in hitting at Northern Illinois University (IL) and James Madison University (VA). Tony is highly regarded as one of the premier hitting coaches in the game.
In March 2006, Tony worked on the staff for the USA Team in the first MLB World Baseball Classic. During the 2006 season, the Tennessee Smokies of the southern league finished second in hitting and first in homeruns with Tony as their hitting coach.
In 2005, Tony was the hitting coach for the South Bend Silverhawks (Class A Affiliate for the Arizona Diamondbacks) who won the Midwest League Championship and led the league in hitting and homeruns. In July 2005, He coached in the Midwest League All Star Game, Peoria, IL.
From 1999-2004, Tony worked for the Arizona Diamondbacks Major League Team. In 2004, he worked for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League where the team played in the Championship game.
In 2003, he worked with the U.S.A. Olympic Qualifying Team. In 2002, he worked with the National League All Star Team at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI. In 2001, he worked on the major league staff of the World Series Champion Arizona Diamondbacks. In 1999, he worked professionally for the Milwaukee Brewers.
